Your Send-to-Kindle email address is a unique email address assigned to your Kindle device or reading app when it is registered. These email addresses end with "@kindle.com", and supported files that are sent to them will appear automatically in your Kindle library.

epub to kindle

I have an epub file created in ID containing several tables originally created in MS Word. These show up reasonably well in ADE (truncated vertically but not horizontally) but are an absolute disaster in mobi (all Kindle versions) regardless of the conversion method used. Any ideas?

Why go through all this (which really really hard and did not work) when this website converts your epub to mobi in under a minute and for free.I donated it was that fast and easy. =5WPFYLAD

As of August 2022, kindle no longer supports mobi in its online utilities to add documents to kindle software. Perhaps older kindles can directly load them, but Amazon has abandoned that format in favor of epub. However I have seen references to kindle epub versus epub for other ebook readers

I just emailed an .epub file to my Kindle email address, and it showed up on my device in readable form without me doing any conversion. Has Amazon updated the process so that files get converted as needed when they arrive via email?

I do not believe the Kindle can natively display .epub files. One option is to use the excellent free Calibre software to convert the .epub to a .mobi file, Kindle displays that format very well (Amazon's own format is a modified .mobi). Then you can copy the .mobi file via USB to your Kindle, or alternately use Calibre's built-in email-to-Kindle function to transfer the file via Whispernet.

Please note: many readers cannot accept email attachments larger than 10 MB, so your file should be smaller than that if possible. If it the file is too large, readers cannot send your book to their Send To Kindle @kindle account.

If you are wondering where to put those .mobi files (or perhaps any other files that your android kindle app can read) if your Kindle app is located in the external storage (external sd - card), just put them at:

As of 2018, Kindle did not recognise epub. So I used a web site to convert it to a mobi. But it still did not recognise it. I remembered that apps now needs runtime permissions to access the virtual SD card. So, it the app properties, I gave it the storage permission, and restarted Kindle. Now, it worked.

But things are about to change. Amazon updated the documentation on the Kindle support page and finally lists epub as one of the supported formats for the device. However, the process is not transparent: through the "Send to Kindle" function, the user will be able to send and open epub files on their device, however, these will be automatically converted to a format called AZW3, which is nothing else than EPUB, but with some technical features of Amazon. While this means there won't be full support for EPUB files, it's good news, as we'll finally be able to import books purchased on other platforms to the Kindle.

@Torsten: Basically, if you have Pandoc installed on your system (and are running the version of Scrivener 3 downloaded from our site - the App Store has limitations) then several Pandoc formats will appear in the Compile menu in addition to the MMD formats (.docx, DocBook and epub). But also, you can create your own Compile format, choose to use MMD as the output format, tell it to use Pandoc syntax, and choose your own post-processing path and command-line arguments. So... you can do a lot, basically. :)I'll have to check up with Ioa, our resident Pandoc and MMD expert, on the comments thing. He advises me on all MultiMarkdown and Pandoc implementations as he is more knowledgeable on those formats than I am.

It used to be so easy to upload an epub file from indesign to amazon kdp, and the conversion to mobi would happen right there, within amazon. Now, apparently, Amazon is making one use kindle create, which makes one upload word docs, and use one of their templates. One has to recreate much of the styling, as well as place images anew. Don't even get me started on footnotes with hyperlinks! I used to be able to create an entire indesign book for print, and then save another copy of that book, and save it as an e-book. Now, one can't do that. It seems I have to create a whole new book just for kindle. Has anyone mastered this, or can set me straight?

Its just text within a book document, laid out in InDesign cc. There's nothing live about it, except for links within footnotes, which are copious. Lots of images are included within the body of the text, and they're anchored. There's no image with embedded linkage. As for fonts, I'm just using Times New Roman font, regular and italic. Nothing fancy. I did see in the fuzzy kindle previewer that my italicized words did retain their italization. If I can understand better how styles will be preserved in KDP kindle book, then I may use a different font for chapter heads. In previous ebooks I've created, I had plenty of "styles."

online-convert.com will let you upload an .epub (or pick something from Dropbox or Google Drive) and convert it to '.azw', which then downloads to your computer where you could use Send To Kindle; no need to provide email address.

Now there is a new android app Send to Kindle. It convert epub to mobi and also pdf to mobi.It also send web articles and any news from the web.Heare download link: =com.luciosoft.sendtokindle

You can easily use Calibre to "side load" epubs to your Kindle. You just connect your Kindle to your computer using a standard cable. You highlight the book you want and click "send to device". It will be automatically converted.

You could at least use apps like Calibre to convert between formats, but both Amazon and Apple asked themselves what they could do to make matters worse, and each concluded that the answer was to convert the standard they used into a proprietary format. Amazon turned .mobi files into .azw3 ones, while Apple labelled their ebook files as .epub while adding in digital rights management (DRM) to break compatibility.

The first requires you to connect a PC to kindle and is the simplest of the three, the later allows you to send files via the cloud. If you frequently spend a lot of time on your laptop, I highly recommend you try the later.

You can find the email ID by firing up your Kindle reader. Tap the three-dot button on the top right of the Kindle homescreen (which is the library). Next, tap "Settings" and then "Your Account." At the bottom, you will see an email ID that ends with @kindle.com (via Amazon).

Adobe Digital Editions uses .epub format for its e-books, with digital rights management (DRM) protection provided through their proprietary ADEPT mechanism. The ADEPT framework and scripts have been reverse-engineered to circumvent this DRM system.[4]

The Amazon Kindle can read unprotected .mobi files, as can Amazon's Kindle application for Windows and MacOS. Amazon has also developed an .epub to .mobi converter called KindleGen,[21] and it supports IDPF 1.0 and IDPF 2.0 EPUB format.

You can get help on any individual feature of the converters by mousing overit in the GUI or running ebook-convert dummy.html .epub -h at a terminal.A good place to start is to look at the following demo file that demonstratessome of the advanced features html-demo.zip.

When output as an epub, all looks great in ADE. Once converted to a MOBI in Kindle Previewer, all looks well. But once I email the MOBI to my Kindle account (to view on the ipad) or upload it through KDP, it still strips all the sans serif fonts!

To send an epub file to Kindle via email, find an email address associated with your Kindle e-reader or app, add a file as an attachment, and in a few minutes, it should appear in your Kindle library.

I have tested adding epub files extensively in a few recent days, and 90% of the file transfers were successful. For comparison, all mobi files that I have ever sent to Kindle in ten years have been accepted.

The tool is called Change Epub Cover, and is a part of an online converter platform. Simply, add an original epub file, add an image that you want to be displayed as cover art, and choose image resizing and background options.

The news that epub is now endorsed by Amazon may have made you come up with the idea that now is the best time to collect all your ebooks in one place or switch from your current ebook platform, for instance Kobo or Nook.

Sigil can ingest .txt, .html, and .epub. The output type is always .epub. Using Sigil requires some knowledge of editing HTML. CNET offers technical documentation and free software downloads for Sigil.

I followed the steps to read the Google play books on kindle But unfortunately when I open the book on kindle it says "an error occurre. If you purchased this item from Amazon, delete the item and download it from the cloud" 2ff7e9595c
